Our Intercessor in Time of Need

by: Alan Bullock

When you consider the weakness and failing of modern man, is it any wonder that God sent Christ to die for our sins?  He saw to it that a Mediator bridged the great divide between the holy and unholy, thus securing our access to Him so that we might come with assurance to the throne of grace (1 Timothy 2:5).While still living behind the Iron Curtain, my wife Anoosh was attending a large secular University studying linguistics.  Many of her professors were Communists and disliked the fact that Anoosh was an outspoken Christian.  Before her graduation and final exam, they planned to find a way to cause her to fail by asking her questions on her philosophy exam that she couldn’t possibly answer. Our Cornerstone
Unmarred and multi-hued Cornerstone,
Holy One of Israel sits upon His throne.
The spotless Lamb, slain for humanity,
Intercedes for us in His glorious Divinity.
In Him, no stained soul of imperfection,
Our Father of lights of infinite perfection,
Shining bright upon His opulent throne,
The Rose of Sharon calls us His very own.
Oh Great God of peace and Holy love!
The Messiah Incarnate, Sacrificial Dove;
Wondrous Redeemer, ransomed Son,
Because of Calvary, our victory won.
In addition to studying, Anoosh prayed and asked God to deliver to her the answers to the questions they would ask.  That night in a dream God did exactly that.  During the exam the next day she was able to answer every question correctly because the Lord had given her the answers. The professors were amazed and two of them ultimately became Christians because of Anoosh’s faithful witness and outspoken faith in Christ.
While Christ isn’t there as our Santa Claus, ready to shower us with presents or provide a solution to every small issue that may arise, He is always there to intercede during times of adversity.  He is most certainly there when He knows the outcome will touch lost souls, leading them into the Kingdom and bringing glory to the Father.
Take heart, dear friends.  To this day Christ continues to insure our blessedness as He stands in the gap on our behalf.  He is able to do far more abundantly than we can ask or think (Eph 3:20-21).  What strength, what love and what hope!
Who is he that condemns?  Christ Jesus, who died—more than that, who was raised to life—is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us (Romans 8:34).
Hope in Christ gives us a spiritual confidence and conviction that there is a better tomorrow.

The Power of Forgiving Love

0
His Hands
The frail hands of a Man most meek
The nails and spear His body did seek.
Water and blood flowed out like wine,
“Father forgive them,” said the One Divine.
A worm am I, you showed mercy on me
Spared by grace, can I ever thank thee?
You looked past my faults on Calvary’s hill,
The Christ who died there — He triumphs still.
Though his life was threatened many times, Haik continued to visit and bring food and hope to the imprisoned pastor.  In January 1994, the fanatical Islamic terrorists made good on their threats and Bishop Haik was abducted and murdered.  He left behind three sons, a daughter and a wife, each of them with a major decision to make.  Would they forgive those that murdered their father and husband or harbor resentment and bitterness?   They chose to forgive.  The Hovsepians have gone on to become involved in a full-time ministry and have produced films reaching out to the Muslim communities with the love of Christ.
Forgiveness is mercy in action.  Forgiveness is the height of love (Matthew 5:44-45).
The cross is all about forgiveness.  The cross stands eternal as a sign of suffering and victory and of sacrifice and salvation.  Speaking to the Corinthians, the Apostle Paul declared that we should be thankful unto our God who always causes us to triumph in Christ.  Because he was victorious, we too share that victory.  Be brave child of God.  Your sins are forgiven; go and do likewise – walk in the love and victory meant for you.
“…In accordance with your great love, forgive the sin of these people, just as you have pardoned them from the time they left Egypt until now.” The LORD replied, “I have forgiven them, as you asked. Nevertheless, as surely as I live and as surely as the glory of the LORD fills the whole earth” (Numbers 14:19-21)
Hope in God is the salve that wipes away the tears of hurt and remorse and brings
refreshing times to all who trust in the Lord.

Resurrection Power

1
It is important to know that the Bible bases all its spiritual truths on historical facts. God’s Word, the Bible, does not proliferate ill-defined abstract theoretical ideas but irrefutable historical facts. The evidence in favor of the Resurrection of Jesus is as strong and conclusive as any historical fact established in the scriptures. It is evidence grounded in prophecy and confirmed by a great number of witnesses including devoutly virtuous women, many of His apostles and then by five hundred brethren at once. His resurrection was further confirmed by the vision and voice of angelic beings. Lifted by Love
Hung on an old rugged cross  to die
The homeless Jew His blood did supply;
Thus pardoning mankind for one and all,
Our uncancelled debt paid with bitter gall.
A stumbling block for the unbelieving,
A pardoning Savior for those receiving.
The lovely face, the tender heart,
A light of grace He did impart.
A vessel of love poured out again and again;
His Resurrection power freeing us from sin.
We remember with joy the conflicts He won,
A fiery Cherub — God’s holy Son.
Against the slings and taunts and jeers,
He sends us joy to calm our fears.
He’s sees our sadness from above
And sends us hope in the form of love.
The resurrection of Jesus is important for many reasons. It witnesses to the immeasurable authority and supremacy of God. At His command, dead circumstances come back to life. If our spiritual experience with God is dead, He has the power to resurrect it if only we become a willing vessel. Leonard Ravenhill said, “Calvary expresses the love of God while the resurrection explains the power of God.” What a powerful statement! God can resurrect your broken dreams, hopes and aspirations.After Lazarus died, his body lied cold and decomposing, but our Lord has power over death. Imagine Lazarus lying in a cold tomb. Not a sound. No movement. Then he hears the voice of God — a voice so powerful that his hands and feet began to move. His mind begins to function and his faculties begin to obey God’s command. In an instant, in a mili-second of time, He felt the power of God. Those standing by heard Christ speak and say, “Lazarus, come forth!” It was then that they saw the power of our Lord. That same voice calls us today to abandon our dead spiritual relationship with both God and man. Let the resurrection power of God lift you out of life’s sorrows and bring you renewed hope, joy and power!And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit, who lives in you (Romans 8:11).Hope and faith lead the believer to a path of joy and fulfillment and, when fully realized, bring new life to all who trust in the Lord.
