Mary : The Woman Honored Above All Women

      womenofthebible-insert

Name Meaning—No female has been honored as has Mary by millions of peoples in all the world who have named their daughters Mary. This Hebrew name has ever been popular in all countries of the Western world, and has altogether some twenty variations, the most conspicuous being Maria, Marie, Miriam and Miriamme.

Mary is about the only feminine name that has pronounced masculine forms such as Mario, Marion and Maria. Elsden C. Smith says that Mary heads the list of female names in America, the estimated number some ten years ago being 3,720,000—Marie, 645,000—Marion, 440,000—Marian, 226,000. “The name of Mary has been given at least 70 different interpretations in a frantic effort to get away from the Biblical significance of bitterness.” Today the most common name for girls is the Biblical Mary, just as the Biblical John is for boys. In Christian lands the name of Mary is first.

LET NOT YOUR HEART BE TROUBLED

Angel GABRIEL Troubled

Zachariah was troubled by where Gabriel stood.
Mary was also troubled about Gabriel's greeting.
Angel troubled water at Bethesda pool.

A look at the source of TROUBLED water.

John 14: Let not your heart be troubled {lawed} x2

Paul's New-er Holy Kiss Greet: Grace, Mercy, and Peace, from God, our Father, and Jesus Christ our Lord.

Tweet: Cops For Cancer? When cops came to door wearin caps sayin this slogun, I said none for me thanks, I'm not 'for' cancer. Grace doesn't f-law.

Besides old age in the new age the leading causes of death seem to be Cancer and Heart Attack. Re the C word nobody likes to hear, but is more oft mentioned and funded than Christ, my allegoric web page called 'The Operation of God', notes that God (is light and in him there is no darkness at all) removes all cancer-us law in time; For as "a little leaven leaveneth the whole lump", so also a little jot or tiddle of cancer-us law can kill the whole body, including the head (God is head of Christ, and Christ is head of man, and man is head of woman: 1Cor 11:3).

The Annunciation

"In the sixth month, God sent the angel Gabriel to Nazareth, a town in Galilee, to a virgin pledged to be married to a man named Joseph, a descendant of David. The virgin's name was Mary." Luke 1:26-27

Today marks exactly nine months until Christmas. It was around this time the angel announced to Mary she would give birth to the Lord. Mary was at first afraid of this "birth announcement," but then she rejoiced at the thought of being the mother of the Messiah. She went straight to her cousin, Elizabeth, with the fantastic news.

Elizabeth had good news of her own. Although old and childless, she was also expecting. Mary and Elizabeth had plenty to hob-nob about. For three months these two moms-to-be delighted in their miracles. They probably did all the first-century versions of things expectant mothers do today: knitted baby clothes, collected blankets, diapers, bibs, toys, rattles, and pacifiers (a small piece of chamois, maybe?) I picture them as two birds on a perch, chattering and chirping about their impending families. Expectant mothers deserve this kind of luxury, right?

God Sees You!

Now in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God to a city in Galilee called Nazareth, to a virgin engaged to a man whose name was Joseph, of the descendants of David; and the virgin's name was Mary.
 Luke 1:26-27

Late last year, I had the privilege of going to the Holy Land. It was my second trip, and it was so meaningful. One afternoon, we made the trip to Nazareth, a very busy, Islamic city today … but a very, very, very small Jewish community at the time of Christ, perhaps as low as 35 families.

In fact, Nazareth was so small, forgotten, and disrespected that Nathanael even said, “Can any good thing come out of Nazareth?” (John 1:46). (I believe we know the answer to that one.)
