Musings from Moore

Cyndi Beam

I was physically SHAKEN...before I was spiritually STIRRED.

I was DOWN for a while...but then I climbed OUT.

I am DISPLACED...but by no means am I HOMELESS.

My HOUSE is in ruin...but my HOME is stunningly gorgeous.

At no point during the storm did I fear for my LIFE...but for the first time in years, I'm truly ready to LIVE.

Jesus was BRUISED for my iniquities and CRUSHED for my sins...but I came out without a SCRATCH.

Some will say a half-inch thick sheet of METAL and a strong supporting FRAME saved my life...while I don't doubt the mechanics of my storm SHELTER, I am also positive that GOD had His finger on the HANDLE.

The New York Times

Lysa TerKeurst

"Wait for the LORD; be strong and take heart and wait for the LORD." Psalm 27:14 (NIV)

Devotion:

Have you ever wondered if the dreams tucked in your heart will ever come to be?

Me too.

I still remember sitting on my bed as a young girl and staring down at an old typewriter my dad brought home. I was fascinated with the way the keys struck the paper. I started to string together words — sentences — paragraphs. I whispered, "Maybe one day a whole book."

But the whisper got buried in a tangle of other things.

All the while the Lord had a plan. A hope. A future. If only I would seek Him, I would find Him, if I would seek Him with all my heart. Not just my Sunday heart. Not just my quiet time heart. But, seek Him in it all.

Chaos Now For Beauty Later

Written by Claire Colvin
“For I am about to do something new. See, I have already begun! Do you not see it? I will make a pathway through the wilderness. I will create rivers in the dry wasteland.” (Isaiah 43:19, NLT)

I am in the midst of a kitchen reno and my house looks like a disaster zone. The simplest tasks are complicated and frustrating. The kettle is in the en suite bathroom, the tea bags are on the coach, the mugs are somewhere in the living room. Everything takes longer. Nothing looks familiar.
Even when it’s time to rest it’s hard to relax in a room that is literally stacked to the ceiling. The other day I stood on the bare concrete floor and thought about the beautiful kitchen that is going in. I remembered all the years I had prayed for a place of my own and I took a deep breath. “It’s chaos now for beauty later,” I said to my roommate and I heard a whisper in my heart. Oh, there’s a lesson in that.

Our Daily Bread -- Wind And Fire

Our Daily Bread is hosted by Les Lamborn

READ: 1 Peter 2:9-17
Honor all people. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the king. —1 Peter 2:17

Sometimes when I want to start a fire, the wind puts it out. But when I try to keep a fire burning, wind keeps it going. So, in the first situation, I label wind “bad” because it thwarts my plans; in the other, I label it “good” because it helps me accomplish what I want to get done.

This paradox illustrates how we judge things by the way they affect us. We declare circumstances or people “bad” if they thwart our plans or cause us inconvenience. We judge circumstances or people “good” if we agree with them and they support our cause.
