Solo Masturbation in Marriage

Paul Byerly
The information here comes in part from a couple of online surveys we did. The first important question then is how accurate are those surveys, do they represent married Christians as a whole? As the surveys were not done from a randomly selected pool, and we do not have demographic information, there is no way to know. That said, our educated guess is that the results of the men’s survey do closely mirror married Christian men in their 20’s and 30’s. I say this based on how it compares with other surveys, and years of talking to men about this issue. Based on fewer female answers, and where women saw the survey link, our best guess is that the women’s survey is not representative of Christian women as whole, but rather of a fairly sex positive and sex enjoying subset. That said the women’s study still gives some interesting insight into why married women masturbate.

Please note that for these surveys the definition of masturbation was self-stimulation to orgasm while not with one’s spouse. This excludes mutual masturbation or masturbating while one’s spouse is present.

Do many married men masturbate?

Does Circumcision Affect Pleasure?

Circumcision does not affect performance or satisfaction as noted in various studies.

The overall prevalence of circumcision [In the USA] was 79% and varied by race/ethnicity:

88% in non-Hispanic whites

73% in non-Hispanic blacks

42% in Mexican Americans

50% in all others

Review article in the journal AIDS in 2000 showed a reduced risk of HIV infection of 44% among circumcised men as compared to uncircumcised men.

Sex and the American Man: A Preview

Gentlemen, a show of hands: Who's having enough sex these days? We commissioned a nationwide survey to find out when (and where and why) American men are having sex right now, and the results reveal the expectations, frustrations, proclivities, perversions, and fantasies that define how we're doing it. Let's get started, shall we?

The Best Sex Ever

New Man

Research refutes the media and confirms the Bible.
Where is the best place to have sex? Research reveals an unlikely answer. Sex is most satisfying, both physically and emotionally, when confined to the safe harbor of marriage.
The most authoritative research ever done on sexuality in America was conducted a few years ago at the University of Chicago. This study, the National Health and Social Life Survey (NHSLS), came to an interesting conclusion: "The public image of sex in America bears virtually no relationship to the truth." In fact, the study explains, "In real life, the unheralded, seldom discussed world of married sex is actually the one that satisfies people the most."
This study found that, of all sexually active people, married people are significantly more likely to say their sex lives make them feel "satisfied," "loved," "thrilled" and "wanted." The faithfully married are also least likely to report sex making them feel "sad," "anxious or worried," "scared or afraid," or "guilty."
The researchers own interpretation of this data, as reported in U.S. News & World Report, is that "the singles scene may not be as carefree and fulfilling as it's cracked up to be...sex within the security of marriage is less problematic."

Are You Entitled to All The Sex You Want?

Douglas Weiss, Ph.D. New Man - Sexual Purity
Question: How many times is too much? How many times is not enough?
Answer: Now here is a real guy question. Unfortunately, there's not a concrete, one-size-fits-all answer. First, let's deal with entitlement. We are not entitled to all the sex we want.
Sex isn't something that you want to approach just from a physical perspective. This would be like your wife asking how much prayer and nurture she's entitled to have from her Christian husband!
If you're looking for averages, two to three times a week is average for couples under 50 and one to two times a week is average for couples over 50.
Now for some of you, this would be heaven. For others, this would be hell. If your wife is within these ranges, you have a healthy, sexual woman. Most likely, she's not your fantasy's insatiable several-times-a-day-porn-star you might have trained your brain and body to think is normal. Sorry! That is poor training for intimate, satisfying sex.
