Why Do Women Feel Bad About Doing Things That Feel Good?

Women feel greater guilt about looking at porn than do men. Why are they primed to feel bad about pleasure?

The first time I rented porn alone I wasn’t really alone. There were other customers in the store, a small chain, popular in the days before Blockbuster had swallowed and sanitized most neighborhood VHS rental outlets. Back then most video stores had a back room where you could find adult films, typically separated from God’s wholesome sunlit earth by a set of white, swinging saloon doors, so that you'd feel like a big sex outlaw just by swaggering in.

Which you never did. You skulked casually past a few times before sidling into the pervert annex and getting knocked in the face with an array of filth beyond your wildest dreams.

I was not always the only woman behind the swinging doors but I was almost always the only one who was alone.
It was a little discomfiting but it was also exciting. I was young, curious and not about to let a embarrassment stand between me titles like “The Czech is in the Male.”

Where Are the Fathers?

We face an unprecedented crisis in America today—the physical and emotional absence of fathers.

by Dave Boehi

You see it in the awe-struck eyes of young boys in the inner city who look up to local gang members as their only role models.

You see it in the weary eyes of a mother trying to put her three young children to bed while her husband watches ESPN in the family room.

You see it in the downhearted eyes of a single mom whose former husband found another woman and moved across the country, leaving her with two angry teenage boys.

And you see it proud eyes of young men who feel they prove their manhood by impregnating teenage girls.

What you see, in short, is a cultural crisis that is more serious than many people realize—the absent father syndrome. Today's media often portrays the "New Father"—present in the delivery room, involved in raising the children, sharing household chores. But statistics tell a different story. Thanks to rising rates in divorce and illegitimate births, increased acceptance of premarital sex, and a growing confusion over male and female family roles, one can safely say that a growing number of "New Fathers" today are physically or emotionally removed from the lives of their children.

It's as if America is determined to test the relevance of a philosophy satirically voiced by playwright Oscar Wilde: "Fathers should be neither seen nor heard. That is the only proper basis for family life."

Premarital Relations

What does God say about premarital relations? Also, will God send a man a wife or are you totally alone in this process. Please show me where to look in the Bible.

The Bible is adamantly against premarital relations. We are to keep ourselves pure for our mate. Here are a some verses to show you the mind of God on this.
Proverbs 9:13 A foolish woman is clamorous: she is simple, and knoweth nothing. 14 For she sitteth at the door of her house, on a seat in the high places of the city, 15 To call passengers who go right on their ways: 16 Whoso is simple, let him turn in hither: and as for him that wanteth understanding, she saith to him, 17 Stolen waters are sweet, and bread eaten in secret is pleasant. 18 But he knoweth not that the dead are there; and that her guests are in the depths of hell.
1 Corinthians 6:18 Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body.
Hebrews 13:4 Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge.
However, the punishment for singles committing this sin was not as harsh as for those who were married. Under the law, adultery (relations between married people outside their own marriage) was to be punished by death. If singles committed fornication, the man was to pay a fee to the father of the girl and the man was forced to marry the girl. We are not under the law, but the principles still apply. Fornication is a very serious sin. However, adultery breaks the covenant promise of marriage and is even more serious. If you are to stay pure, you must flee fornication. That is, do not allow yourself to get in situations where you will be tempted beyond your ability. Run from it.

As to God sending a husband or wife, I do not have a particular verse. However, I know that if we give ourselves to the Lord, He will watch over us in a special way. Make it a matter of prayer--though I feel sure you have probably already done this. However, you must also trust in Him to do His part and you must be willing to wait for the Lord to do His work in His time. Many have moved ahead of God but it has not brought them happiness. Finally, you must realize that it is not the will of God for everyone to be married. Most do, but not all.

You must be willing to submit to His will no matter what it is. As you pray and trust in the Lord, He may lead you to certain actions. Just be willing to follow His lead and seek His help at every step. This is one of the most important decisions you will ever make. I trust that the Lord will show you His way in this.
