"Sexting,'' the sending or receiving of sexually explicit messages or photos by cell phone, isn't an alternative to teens' sexual activity, but is actually linked to it, according to a new study.

"Sexting is part of the new landscape of the sex lives of teens," says researcher Eric Rice, PhD, assistant professor of social work at the University of Southern California, Los Angeles.

While some experts have suggested that sexting is an alternative to having sex for teens, this research suggests otherwise.

Born Gay? A Parent's Guide

Chuck Colson

A little boy I’ll call “Stevie” was a beautiful, healthy child. But by age five, his parents suspected something was wrong. Stevie loved Barbie dolls, the color pink, and dancing around like a ballerina.

His parents took Stevie to see Dr. Joseph Nicolosi, a psychologist who specializes in gender disorders. Nicolosi listened as they described their son’s fascination with feminine activities, which had begun when he was three. Nicolosi confirmed that Stevie was a “prehomosexual male.” Without intervention, Nicolosi said, Stevie had a 75-percent chance of growing up homosexual, bisexual, or transgender.

In his book, A Parent’s Guide to Preventing Homosexuality, Nicolosi describes what had likely led to Stevie’s preoccupation with feminine things. Nicolosi explains that as infants, boys and girls alike are emotionally attached to their mothers. It’s normal for girls to continue developing their feminine identity through their relationship with their mothers. But boys must dis-identify from their mothers and begin to identify with their fathers. Clearly, Stevie had not begun to do this; he continued to identify with his mother.

Washington - President Obama, in a Wednesday interview on ABC's "Good Morning America," declared his support for same-sex marriage. His statement, coming six months before the general election, raises the political stakes in an issue voters are roughly evenly divided.
Even though the Obama administration's policy has been in favor of gay rights, implementing gay-friendly policies such as stopping the enforcement of the "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy on homosexuals serving in the military and declaring it believes that the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) is unconstitutional, Obama had equivocated on the politically sensitive issue of gay marriage.

Girls Kissing Girls: Explaining the Trend

By JEFFREY KLUGER |

Britney and Madonna did it; so did Scarlett Johansson and Sandra Bullock. And so do women in bars, at mixers, on the street and, increasingly, in private — especially when those women are college students. The “it” is the kiss, of course, and even before Katy Perry celebrated the all-girl lip-lock in song, it was clear that the party was definitely on.

Girl-girl kissing is not new, anymore than boy-girl or boy-boy — or any of the other mix-and-match combinations of genders and numbers in which sexually charged human beings can find themselves. What is new is the openness with which girls are sampling from among their own, and the way the phenomenon has rapidly gone from startling to titillating to, if not quite commonplace, at least not all that uncommon either.
