Franklin Graham Says Obama Has Shaken Fist at God

Franklin Graham has some strong words for President Obama in the wake of his decision to support same-sex marriage.

“In changing his position from that of Senator/candidate Obama, President Obama has, in my view, shaken his fist at the same God who created and defined marriage. It grieves me that our president would now affirm same-sex marriage, though I believe it grieves God even more,” Graham says.

“The institution of marriage should not be defined by presidents or polls, governors or the media. The definition was set long ago and changing legislation or policy will never change God’s definition. This is a sad day for America. May God help us.”
Meanwhile, Obama’s spiritual advisor, Joel Hunter, is disappointed in the president’s stance on same-sex marriage. Hunter, senior pastor of Northland Church in Longwood, Fla., told Fox News he’s not entirely surprised by Obama’s revelation because the president “thinks with his heart.” Obama reportedly called Hunter asking for forgiveness.

“He knew where I stood because I’m an evangelical and I believe in what the Scripture says,” Hunter said. “So one of the reasons he was calling was to protect our relationship and to give me a heads up of an interview he had just then done. It wasn’t something we were able to talk through or I would have tried to talk him out of it.”

Hunter says Obama told him how much he prayed and how difficult the decision to publicly announce support for same-sex marriage was. Despite his disappointment, Hunter says his relationship with Obama will remain solid.

“It’s never been a political relationship. I don’t support the president politically,” Hunter says. “It is a personal and pastoral relationship and pastors don’t run when the people they are mentoring go off and do something they don’t agree with.”
