How to Prevent Blushing
Feeling flushed? Don't feel bad. New research says blushing can actually be a sign you're more trustworthy. But a red face can really ruin your mood if it pops up in the wrong circumstances. Here's how to avoid that flush of pink from taking over your face.

Hands off hot stuff
Prone to blushing but have an important event—or date—coming up? Avoid hot beverages, alcohol, and anything spicy—they release a chemical called histamine that can turn skin red.

Take a cool approach
One hour before your event, apply a washcloth soaked in cold water to your face for 10 minutes; the cool compress constricts blood vessels. Follow with a lotion that boasts a greenish tint. “Green cancels out redness because it’s on the opposite end of the color spectrum,” says Elizabeth Briden, MD, adjunct associate clinical professor of dermatology at the University of Minnesota.

Be gentle with your skin
Stay away from aggressive anti-agers and glycolic skin peels. Those can aggravate sensitive skin.
