My girlfriend’s sex drive has gone since she went through menopause

Now we only have sex about once a week and she only occasionally orgasms

  • My partner and I have been together for 14 years and have a loving relationship.
We very seldom have any disagreements and meet up three or four times a week.

We used to have exciting sex and she always had orgasms when we made love.
However, about 18 months ago she went through the menopause and her libido is almost non-existent.
Now we only have sex about once a week and she only occasionally orgasms.
It’s such a change from how things used to be. I’d love to hear your advice.

    Coleen says..
It’s not unusual for a woman to lose her desire for sex after the menopause.
Everything else about your relationship is good, so I don’t think you should be suspicious that anything else is going on to make her lose interest.
Be careful your insecurities don’t put more pressure on her.
You have to broach the subject with her without being accusatory.
Try to encourage her to see her GP.
Treating menopausal symptoms can help to boost sex drive by improving well-being and energy and restoring hormone levels.
