Affiliate millionaires are those individuals who have become millionaires selling other people's products, usually digital products. With the advent of digital products, and the interest in Internet marketing and related topics, many would-be authors have chosen to write, publish and launch their own digital products. In order to get the word out so that their product(s) sell, authors hire affiliates to promote their products for them and then pay their affiliates a portion of each sale. Those that are really able to market their affiliate products become the success stories called affiliate millionaires
History
- Affiliate marketing, that which has made the affiliate millionaires predates the Internet. The idea of revenue sharing and or paying a commission for any customers that someone brings into an online business that actually translates into sales got its start in 1994, almost four years after the World Wide Web came into being.While there does appear to be some confusion as to who actually started the first e-commerce affiliate program, Jeff Bezos of Amazon believes he was the first person to do this. However, history actually points to the adult industry and Cybererotica with their cost per click program as being the first to implement an affiliate program.
Significance
- Affiliate millionaires have become a true reality with the advent of blogging. Affiliates that have blogs where the traffic is in the area of 100,000 or more find that selling affilliate products and becoming an affiliate millionaire is much easier. In addition, with the number of available affiliate products, finding a few that match the affiliate's blog topic is quite easy.
- Time Frame
- The time frame for becoming an affiliate millionaire varies, and depends on several factors such as determination, having the time, the willingness to invest in an online business, and having a well-trafficked blog to name but a few. Without at least these four factors it would be very difficult to become an affiliate millionaire. However, with these four factors, particularly a well known blog that is already drawing traffic, it is possible to become an affiliate millionaire in some cases in a matter of months.
Geography
- The beauty of affiliate marketing and becoming an affiliate millionaire is that anyone can do it from anywhere in the world as long as they have a computer and an Internet connection. Since so much of being a successful affiliate marketer who has the ability to become an affiliate millionaire rides on having a blog, and other online avenues to market affiliate products, not having access to a computer and the Internet would make it virtually impossible to become an affiliate millionaire.
Misconceptions
- There is a big misconception among new affiliate marketers that it is possible to become an affiliate millionaire overnight. While there are a few who have been fortunate enough to have overnight success in affiliate marketing, and have become affiliate millionaires quickly, this is not the norm.
Warning
- Not everyone that markets affiliate products is going to become a millionaire, let alone make any money. Contrary to what many would have you believe, in particular many of the Internet marketing gurus who write and publish many of the products that affiliates sell, there will be those who will not succeed and thus not become affiliate millionaires. Affiliate marketing is not for everyone, nor are the many tasks associated with it such as, blogging and article marketing to name a few.
Prevention/Solution
- Preparation and education is the key to becoming an affiliate millionaire. Studying and understanding SEO and how it works, as well as marketing in general are good ways to begin an education that could lead to becoming an affiliate millionaire. Taking the time to set up a blog and draw traffic to it, as well as creating a budget for an online business are just two of the ways to prepare to become an affiliate millionaire.
