Seasons of Favor

Written by Andrea Debruin

Favor is inevitable when walking in step with the Father. Jesus experienced the favor of God immediately after He was baptized in the Holy Spirit. The Father spoke an affirming and grounding word to Him saying:

“You are my Son, whom I love; with you I am well pleased.” (Luke 3: 22)

Favor can be defined as being chosen as a child of God. In being adopted into God’s family, as a son or a daughter, there is complete access to the throne of mercy and grace.

One well-known woman in the Bible experienced an extraordinary season of favor: Hadassah or more commonly referred to as Esther. A Jew, in a foreign land, Esther was chosen to be Queen of Persia, which gave her influence to save her entire race from genocide.

This platform of favor enabled Esther to partner with God’s plan to change history. God’s heart in giving favor is to give life. His heart is always that man would live to the fullness in Christ Jesus. The call to life is literally seen in this book of the Bible as God spares His chosen people, the Jews, from total annihilation. An incredible aspect to this story is that God uses Esther to fulfill His unique plan of redemption.

Esther: The Key to Favor

Written by Roxanne Rogiers

Have you ever been promoted to a position of honor to aid those around you? Esther is a favorite book of the Bible that recounts the history of a young, beautiful, Jewish girl who was crowned Queen of Persia. Her promotion occurred during an extremely strategic time of threatening political events. The total existence of the Jewish population living within Persia was at stake. Despite the evil plans for a mass genocide, Esther courageously submits to the plea of her Uncle Mordecai to approach the king and ask for favor.

Favor, submission and humility are three main themes that run throughout the story of Esther. In following her life, verse by verse, you will be able to connect the dots between these themes. This 10-part series based on the book of Esther will help you pick up golden truths in God’s Word. These lessons should take no more than 30 minutes to complete. Take the plunge and learn how to stay within the realm of favor!
