Abraham : Father of many nations.

Greetings in Jesus Name!

It is not where you are at in life's journey but your relationship with the Lord that is going to bring the blessings to your life.

When a person fully understands this and walks in this realm they begin to experience the fullness that the Lord has for them.

Abraham experienced this in his life.

Deuteronomy 8:1 (KJV)
All the commandments which I command thee this day shall ye observe to do, that ye may live, and multiply, and go in and possess the land which the Lord sware unto your fathers.

God is a God of blessing.  He promises to take care of His children. When we walk in His ways then we will have a blessed life where what we have is multipying.  Remember God's economy is a
multiplication. Everything has been created to multiply.

This includes our life.  Whatever we have God wants to multiply.

When God spoke to Abraham, He promised Abraham a multiplication of His seed for all of eternity.  Abraham at the time of the promise had no children but God wanted him to see beyond his current situation.

Genesis 22:17 That in blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is upon the sea shore; and thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies;

Have you ever tried to count the sand on the sea shore?

God promise to Abraham was that he would multiply thy seed as the stars in the sky and as the sand  on the sea shore.

Abraham role was to believe and act upon this.  He had to be convinced that his vision for his life was a multitude of descendants as the sand on the sea shore.  At night time he would look up into the sky
and his descendants would be as numerous as the stars in the sky.

Therefore day and night Abraham could see his vision.  His name was changed to father of many nations.  So everything about his daily life represented the dream or vision that God had placed
upon his heart.

What is your constant thoughts during the day and during the night?

If our day starts with the daily news where we learn of all the violence in our society, the wars and rumours or wars and tragedies around the world it is hard to stay focused upon the vision that God has for you.

If your work schedules create daily pressures for your life it is hard to stay focused upon the vision God has for you.

If you are facing some crisis in your personal life it is hard to stay focused upon the vision that God has for you.

Abraham personal problems was that he had no children.  Abraham was rich but he had no one to share his wealth with and pass this onto.  For many years he lived with the thoughts that he had no children.

When Abraham was 99 years old the Lord appeared to him and established a covenant with Abraham that included the promise that Abraham would become a father of many nations. God also changed his name from Abram to Abraham.

Genesis 17:5 (KJV) Neither shall thy name any more be called Abram, but thy name shall be Abraham; for a father of many nations have I made thee.

Everytime someone called Abraham they were calling him by his vision - the Father of many nations.

God wants us to see beyond our present circumstances into the dreams and visions that He has for our life.

There are challenges in life that we all face but with God all things are possible.

Against hope believed in hope.

Romans 4:16-24 (King James Version) Therefore it is of faith, that it might be by grace; to the end the promise might be sure to all the seed; not to that only which is of the law, but to that also which is of the faith of Abraham; who is the father of us all,
(As it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations,) before him whom he believed, even God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were.

Who against hope believed in hope, that he might become the father of many nations, according to that which was spoken, So shall thy seed be.

And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about an hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sarah's womb:

He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God;
And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform.

And therefore it was imputed to him for righteousness.

Now it was not written for his sake alone, that it was imputed to him;

But for us also, to whom it shall be imputed, if we believe on him that raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead.

Against hope believed in hope.

It is always difficult to have faith when everything is contrary to what we are expecting.

Abraham experienced this in his own life but he stayed believing.

In times like this we may often want to give up.

Let us learn from the experience of Abraham.

Against hope he believed in hope.

Even when everything was contrary to what he was expecting, He still believed.

Have you ever been there? I think we all have at some stage in life.

Abraham experienced this in His own life but he still believed in what God has spoken to Him.

He considered not his own situation.

His natural situation was that it was too late. He was too old.

He experienced this but his confidence was in what God had promised. Not what he was experiencing.

Abraham was fully persuaded that, what God had promised, God was able also to perform.

Abraham was living the dream by faith. God had given him a vision to pursue in life.

A vision that required faith to believe for.

The vision God has for each of us, requires faith for it to become a reality.

We need to be fully persuaded that, whatever God has promised us, God is well able to perform it.

Have faith in God.
