“That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, the eyes of your understanding being enlightened...” Ephesians 1:17–18 NKJV
The tangible presence of God residing in our lives, enabling us to do the impossible, is more important now than ever before in history. We do well to adopt the prayer of Moses in Exodus 33:13–16 (below). Moses asked God to show him His ways. This involves the spiritual realm of vision. If we are able to see our future and understand the ways God wants us to walk, we will prosper. It is time to see the grace and favor of God resting upon us in the realms of glory. Part of knowing God is recognizing His glory manifest in and through our lives. Do we really know God if we are not walking in the strength of His power doing great exploits?
"Now therefore, I pray, if I have found grace [favor] in Your sight, show me Your way, that I may know You and that I may find grace in Your sight. And consider that this nation is Your people." And He said, "My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest." Then he said to Him, "If Your Presence does not go with us, do not bring us up from here. For how then will it be known that Your people and I have found grace in Your sight, except You go with us? So we shall be separate, Your people and I, from all the people who are upon the face of the earth."
Abraham was Known by God
The Bible tells us that Abraham was known by God. Abraham saw the Lord and His angels. The Lord appeared to His friend Abraham in his tent. While the Lord was already present with Abraham He sent three of His angels to communicate His plans and share His purposes with Abraham. When Abraham looked up, and saw the angels he ran from the presence of the Lord, bowed down, and greeted them with, "My Lord, if I have now found favor in Your sight, do not pass on by Your servant.”
Abraham knew that the presence of angels meant God’s favor and increase was present. God was adding to him. Angels come to deliver God’s messages and promises.

The angels asked Abraham for Sarah his wife. They had come to bring the promise of a son to life in her womb. Their words brought laughter and joy into her heart which opened her womb to receive the promised seed. Joy is healing like medicine. Sarah laughed within herself, saying,
"After I have grown old, shall I have pleasure, my lord being old also?" And the Lord said to Abraham, "Why did Sarah laugh, saying, 'Shall I surely bear a child, since I am old?' Is anything too hard for the Lord? At the appointed time I will return to you, according to the time of life, and Sarah shall have a son.”
“Then the men rose from there and looked toward Sodom, and Abraham went with them to send them on the way. And the Lord said, "Shall I hide from Abraham what I am doing, since Abraham shall surely become a great and mighty nation, and all the nations of the earth shall be blessed in him? For I have known him, in order that he may command his children and his household after him, that they keep the way of the Lord, to do righteousness and justice, that the Lord may bring to Abraham what He has spoken to him."… “Then the men turned away from there and went toward Sodom, but Abraham still stood before the Lord.” Genesis 18:1–32

God visited Abraham in his tent, walked with him and talked with him in daily times of intimacy. God shared His secrets and plans with Abraham. And Abraham shared his heart’s desires, hopes, and plans with the Lord. He patiently waited years for his promise to be fulfilled. An intimate relationship requires an open trusting heart with face to face dialogue. God granted Abraham his heart’s desire for an heir, but the promise was fulfilled only after it seemed impossible. Abraham was the Father of Faith. Abraham’s faith in God caused him to receive the promises of God in the fullness of time. His faith enabled him to be a friend of God. We too will become intimate friends of God as we develop our love and faith through overcoming the trials and test of this life.
We must remember God is always present. He is all powerful so nothing is impossible. If we will hide His word in our hearts and seek God’s face we will be able to continually abide in His presence. It is the presence of God in us that empowers us to bear eternal fruit. If we live our lives apart from God we will not be able to do anything. The Bible says it like this, “apart from me you can do nothing.” John 15: 4–5, Abiding in God’s presence will ensure that the dreams of destiny that God has sown in each of our hearts will come to pass.
