Hidden Treasure

The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again, and then in his joy went and sold all he had and bought that field. Matthew 13:44
Treasures are precious things which are not common. Only few people found them, and such people are considered lucky in life. Treasures have values of varying grades. Men fight wars, and search diligently to get treasures but soon lost them to robbers, death and others things stronger than them.

The treasure of man comes at a high cost, and does not last, but the treasure of God lasts for ever, and it comes free. Man searches for treasure, but God is looking for man to deliver His treasure to him.
The treasure of God is Jesus Christ who came into the world to save us from our sins. Jesus is like a treasure hidden in the field where everybody passes daily yet they do not see Him. Many find it difficult to accept Him as Lord and Savior today, because they did not see Him as such. He reveals Himself in manifold ways; through answered prayers, signs and wonders, miraculous happenings, salvation of the hopeless, and countless other ways in our personal lives, and immediate environment, yet many did not see Him.

Followers of Jesus have the joy and privilege of treasuring the treasure of God. Like an archaeologist for the Almighty, they dig in the dirt of His love and are surprised by His generosity with the precious metals of grace and truth. Jesus is the preeminent jewel. When excavated from this field of faith, he invites us to a lifetime of discovery and renewal. Indeed, search for spiritual treasure requires trust and persistence. So, enjoy the process that produces character in sincere seekers.
To have Jesus is to have the greatest of all treasures, because with Him, you need nothing else to have a fulfilled life, both here on earth and in eternity. No wonder the man in this bible passage sold all he had with joy and went for that great treasure because he does not need all those things he sold any more.
Even though this great treasure is hidden, it is hidden to all that has refused to allow Him to have His way in their lives. For as many that seek Him, they will surely find Him.

Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me. (Revelation 3:20).

He is tugging at your heart, you have to listen and surrender to Him. He knocks through the little tracts that you receive, He knocks through occasional messages that filters into your ears as you busy yourself with various activities; He knocks through people that brings gospel messages to you. Hence, He is not hidden really. We can all share in the hidden treasure of God, nobody can horde Him, and death cannot rob you of Him in your life.

Have you found this all important treasure? If not, make it a matter of urgency to find Him, because a time is coming when no one would be able to find Him.

Seek the Lord while he may be found; call on him while he is near. Let the wicked forsake their ways and the unrighteous their thoughts. Let them turn to the Lord, and he will have mercy on them, and to our God, for he will freely pardon. Isaiah 55:6-7.
